The Future of Technology

“Technology is moving so fast,” says Ivey, “that it’s hard to predict what clubs will be capable of. It is unlimited. Through technology, I see clubs working closer with doctors, hospitals and insurance companies, providing preventive health and consultation.

Also, with the advent of systems such as ASPs and member services, the workload of management, administration and accounting moves from the club owner/operator to outside sources, making more productive time available for decision-making and operations.”

Ivey also sees technology enabling multi-club memberships that “will allow members to travel at will and work out in reciprocating clubs anywhere in the world, at any time of the day.

Also, club members will be able to compare clubs online, viewing pictures or live video streams, selecting services, comparing rates and joining clubs, all from the comfort of their homes.”

A future goal for FISANA members is to work together to create a uniform platform for technology-based systems, according to Dinerman. “Some people are reluctant to invest in technology because they don’t know what or whom to believe about what will benefit their business. FISA wants the results of this survey to help facility operators fully examine their options and make better informed decisions,” he says
